Pouring Over Books

Pouring Over Books is our premier annual event.

Each year, library supporters enjoy an afternoon with a local author and live music. Refreshments include a complimentary selection of fine wines, craft beers and premium teas along with delicious light bites.

Pouring Over Books 2025

On February 23, 2025, the Friends met at Prospect House in Dripping Springs for this gala event. Event activities included a panel talk from acclaimed Texas author Lynda Rutledge, a silent auction and door prizes.  Live music provided by local guitarist Jerry Kirk.

Generous local businesses and individuals donated marvelous items for a Friends Silent Auction, as well. This event would not be possible without our many community sponsors who demonstrate their support of our community library.

Pouring Over Books 2024

On February 25, 2024, we were all excited to be together in person back at the Prospect House.  Local Texas author Mark Pryor captivated the audience with a rousing journey into the mind of a thriller writer.

Thank you to our sponsors, speakers, and all the hardworking volunteers that made this year’s event possible.

We’re happy to announce that Pouring Over Books raised more than $16,699.00 for the library this year.

Ongoing Friend Events

Founders Day

The Friends join the library and other community businesses on Mercer street for a weekend celebration of the founders of Dripping Springs in 1850.

This celebration features a grand parade, live music, a carnival, food and beverage vendors, street dances, cook-off competitions, and over 150 arts and crafts booths.

Stop by our booth and check out our book sale. The kids will given a chance to spin the magic wheel!

Christmas on Mercer Street

Each year the street comes alive on the first Saturday of December from 10 am to 5 pm as Mercer Street and the Dripping Springs downtown area transform into a hometown holiday festival.

Don’t miss holiday shopping, arts and crafts booths, live entertainment, children’s activities, and more.

The Friends, along with the library, will be hosting a booth. Stop by and see us for some holiday cheer!

Book Sales

The Friends collect quality used books during the year and sell them at Christmas on Mercer, Founders Day, and occasional other sales throughout the year. Please bring book donations to the Big Blue Box located on the front porch of the Sententia Vera Cultural Hub.

Super Friends and Lifetime Friends Gathering

The Super Friends and Lifetime Friends are special membership classes composed of people expressing a strong commitment for the library to be become a thriving community asset. The Gathering is an annual event for the groups to mingle, enjoy refreshments, and socialize.

Occasional Special Events

The year 2024 was a very active one for the Friends. Aside from our usual events we hosted a wine tasting at Duchman Winery, a day with Santa on Mercer Street and a Books & Brews event at Fitzhugh Brewing.

Each year the Friends sponsor various events to raise awareness about the Dripping Springs Community Library and raise money to support the library.

In 2019, we enjoyed ‘Letters+Tunes’ a CD release party and book reading by Nathan and Ashley Brown at the Station at Mercer Street, including complimentary wine and snacks.

For Christmas on Mercer we had a booth selling like-new books, raffling off some great gift baskets, and talking about the Friends. We were proud to raise another $1,000 each year for the library.

We are hard at work planning even more events for 2024.
