Different ways to help

Pick whichever fits you, or do all of them. None of them require you to be on a committee.

Donations to the Friends fund popular library programs and buy essential equipment for adults and children to use. They are what turns a building full of books into a place with art, music and science in it.

Every dollar of it stays in Dripping Springs. See what last year's money actually paid for on our Impact page.

Prefer to send a check?

Make it payable to Friends of the Dripping Springs Community Library, Inc. and post it to Attn: President, 501 Sportsplex Drive, Dripping Springs, TX 78620.

For your records

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our EIN is 74-2888129, and your donation is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Donate your books

Some donated items join the library's own collection. Most are sold, and the money funds library programs. Either way the books stay useful.

Where to drop them off

The blue bin at Noble Tutoring and Prep

800 Hwy 290, Building C, Suite 300, Dripping Springs

Open 24 hours a day, every day — no need to arrange anything or catch anyone.

More than three boxes? Email us a few days beforehand and we will arrange for you to drop them at the book storage facility instead.

Yes please

  • Gently used hardback and paperback fiction and nonfiction — children's, young adult and adult
  • Commercially recorded music CDs and audiobooks
  • DVDs

Sorry, we can't use

  • Anything with a broken spine, a missing cover, or staining and mildew
  • Outdated computer, business, medical or travel guides
  • Magazines, cassettes, VHS tapes and encyclopedias
  • Textbooks more than five years old

Book donations are tax-deductible, but the Friends are not permitted to assign a dollar value to them. That valuation is yours to make.

There is no minimum commitment and no experience required. Most people start at a book sale and find their own level from there.

Book sales

Setting up tables, taking money, packing down. A few hours on a Saturday, a few times a year.

Sorting donations

Going through what comes in, deciding what sells and what does not. Quiet, sociable, and endlessly interesting if you like books.

Events

Helping run Pouring Over Books and the rest — setup, welcome desk, auction table.

Join the board

A bigger commitment: monthly meetings and a share of the running of the organization. We always need people willing to do this.

Things people ask us

Do I have to be a member to donate books?

No. The blue bin at Noble Tutoring and Prep is open to anyone, any hour of any day. You do not need to tell us you are coming and you do not need to be a member.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes. The Friends are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 74-2888129, and donations are deductible to the extent allowed by law. For book donations we cannot assign a dollar value — that valuation is yours to make.

Does the money go to the library or to the Friends?

To the library. The Friends have no paid staff. What we raise pays for library programs, equipment and events in Dripping Springs.

What if I have more than three boxes of books?

Get in touch a few days beforehand and we will arrange for you to drop them at the book storage facility instead of the bin.

How are you different from the library?

The library is run by its own staff on a public budget. The Friends are a separate, volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit with no paid staff. We raise money through book sales, events, sponsorships and donations, and we give it to the library for the programs, equipment and services its budget does not stretch to.

Libraries need friends.

It really is that simple.
