We're the Friends of the Library
Founded in 1983
1983
The Friends were founded in 1983 by a group of volunteers who wanted Dripping Springs to have a library building of its own. For fifteen years they raised money towards it.
1998
In June 1998 the Dripping Springs Community Library opened at its current location, and the Friends incorporated as a nonprofit the same year.
Today
The job did not end there. The library has a public budget; the Friends pay for the things that budget will not stretch to — the programs, the equipment, the summer reading incentives, the outdoor space. More than forty years on, it is still volunteers doing it.
Our mission
The Friends of the Dripping Springs Community Library, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support to the community library through fundraising and volunteer participation. Contributions to the Friends are used exclusively for our community library to enhance library services and programs.
“The purposes of this Corporation shall be to promote the public use of the Library, foster an appreciation of the Library's cultural and educational value to the community and encourage and support the improvement of the Library's resources and services.”
